| * If your Viking cue has joint
#3 or #4, the butt of your cue must be sent to Viking to have your
Predator shaft matched specifically to your cue. This is not
necessary for joint #1, #2, #5 or #6. If your Viking cue does not
have a standard joint, please order through our order line at

The Problem
Cue ball deflection - Less is better: Way less is way
better.
The vast majority of all pool shots are
missed when the player use english or hits the shot hard. This is
why. The more side spin you put on the cue ball and the harder you
hit the shot, the more the ball squirts and deflects off line.
Consequently, the more you have to adjust or compensate your aim.
The less cue ball deflection you have to deal with, the more precise your
game will be.
The Science
The same science that improved the performance of golf
clubs is applied to improving the performance of pool cues.
Some cues generate way more cue ball
deflection than others. We undertook a two year research and testing
program and launched the first truly scientific analysis of the
performance of a pool cue. The backbone of our research is a robot
we developed called "Iron Willie." What makes him specail
is the he can absolutely reproduce the same stroke over and over. We
also developed a very accurated method of measuring cue ball deflection -
so exactly that we can see the effect the shape of your tip has on
performance.
The Discovery
Many old theories on what made a pool cue play well were
disproved
We found that the way the first ten
inches of your shaft bends on impact is the key to how well a cue
performs. Conventional shafts have a tendency to buckle of break
down on impact. This buckling has a big effect on how well your cue
transfers energy, and is one of the major causes of cue ball
deflection. Your shaft has to bend; the way it bends determines how
well it performs.
Utilizing state-of-the-art composites
and polymers allowed us to control the way the shaft flexes
The engineering in the front end of the
314 shaft serves two purposes: (1) to absorb and dissipate the compression
generated on impact, and (2) to control the shaft's stiffness. The
314's ferrule is made of an indestructible polymer designed for its
special properties of stiffness and hardness. Internally, the first
five inches in reinforced with a composite material fortified with micro
fibers. Together, these patent pending technologies alter the
shaft's natural tendencies to buckle and allow for a more efficient bend.
The Results
The 314 shaft improves performance in the four major
catagories
Accuracy:
The least deflecting cue we measured generates at least
25% more cue ball deflection than any butt with a 314 shaft. This dramatic
reduction is guaranteed to make your game more precise.
Consistency:
One piece shafts can be stiffer in one direction than
in another. The 314 shaft is composed of ten pieces which are
radially aligned to produce a 360 degree sweet spot. You will never
get this degree of consistent performance with a one piece shaft.
Power:
The 314 shaft produces considerably more spin.
This increased power makes it much easier to move the cue ball around the
table. You simply won't have to stroke as hard to draw and follow
the cue ball. We guarantee your game will be more powerful.
Feel:
Traditional shaft's vibrate on impact and distorts the
natural feel of the cue. The purer transfer of energy on the 314
shaft produces less vibration and leaves the player with a very solid
feel. If you are serious about the game of pool, try a 314
shaft. You will play better pool. |
