Background
AE cues is a partnership of Bruce Kuhn and Jeff Fugal. Like many cuemakers, they
started out as pool players who felt they could build a better cue. With combined
backgrounds in machining, toolmaking, woodworking, and business, they started doing cue
repair in 1990. By 1992, having assembled the necessary equipment and experimented with
various cue construction designs and techniques, both cuemakers began offering their cues
for sale. Both cuemakers enjoy seeing the end product of their efforts and getting
feedback from players who are using their cues. They are proud of the quality of the
workmanship in their cues, which they feel is second to none. According to Bruce and Jeff,
"a good-hitting cue starts with the selection of the best possible raw materials.
From there, the cue must be designed correctly to give it the correct balance and feel.
Much of the design work is not even visible in the finished cue. The final key is the
execution. Precision workmanship during all phases of construction is necessary to provide
the look, feel, and durability the player is looking for."
